EPA to Conduct Methyl Bromide Outreach Workshops in June 2003

EPA is planning to hold five workshops to provide support to current and future applicants for critical use exemptions (CUE) for methyl bromide. The purpose of all of the workshops is to help explain requirements for re-submission of CUE applications for applicants from last year and to walk through the process for prospective new applicants. The workshops will also include a session to elicit comments and suggestions for EPA to consider in its forthcoming rulemaking proposal on allocating the critical use exemptions among methyl bromide users. The schedule for the workshops is as follows:

Washington, DC: June 16-18, 2003
June 16:

From 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the 1st floor conference room of the Communication Workers of America Building, located in Judiciary Square, 501 3rd Street, NW. The focus will be on Methyl Bromide Allocation.

June 17 and 18:
From 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Conference Room A of Crystal Station at 2800 Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA. The topics of these workshops will include new CUE applications and updating current CUE applications.

Raleigh, NC: June 19-20, 2003
The Raleigh workshops will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 19 and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on June 20 at North Carolina State University, Room 3533, Gardner Hall. Both workshops will cover CUE applications, as well as methyl bromide allocation and updates on the Quarantine and Preshipment exemption (QPS).

East Lansing, MI: June 20, 2003
From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Michigan State University, Room 162, Food Safety and Toxicology Building. The workshops will focus on allocation, QPS updates, and updating CUE applications.

Orlando, FL: June 24-25, 2003
From 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 24 and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on June 25 at the Holiday Inn Select Orlando Airport, 5750 T G Lee Blvd. The workshops in Orlando will also cover new CUE applications, update CUE applications, allocation and QPS Updates.

Parlier, CA: June 24-25, 2003
From 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 24-25 and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on June 26 at the University of California Research Station, 9240 S. Riverbend Rd, Parlier, CA. These workshops will cover allocation and applications and will also include the topics of Preplant and Post-harvest of methyl bromide.
